With Khaled, the burglar of the islands one can not say that one knows the region of Bizerte without having done cabotage around the Cani Islands. Take your precautions, you must first book with the office of Bizerte Diving, in the marina to have a ticket for a surprising day. The captain on board is Khaled, known by all of Tabarka and Bizerte. Its small trawler refitted to receive about twenty passengers is a blue and red monument that sits in the marina. With Khaled, the hour does not count, because the day starts late but ends well after sunset. And so much the worse if the departure set at 10 o’clock is only at 11 o’clock, it is a day of vacation.

Heading towards the Cani Islands, the crossing, a little over an hour, often crosses the road of dolphins or flying fish. The islands emerge on the horizon. It is an enormous rock overhung by a lighthouse, and surrounded by a sea so clear that one would think oneself in a natural pool. On board, all diving equipment is available. It is the ideal place for those who would be tempted by a diving baptism.

After the first swimming (there will be many others in the afternoon), going up aboard, we are surprised to smell merguez and grilled fish. Between two laughs, Khaled’s right arm, who also holds the helm, has prepared a pantagruelal meal with squid, sardines, cuttlefish and other grilled meat. The portions are so copious and delicious that one forgets that these are only the starters, and very often, one stops in front of the sea bream and the fruit. But nothing like a plunge into crystal clear waters to open the appetite.

Going back as sun is setting is very joyous; Khaled will tell you about his fishing parties, which resemble that of the sardine which has blocked the port of Bizerte; The music makes you want to dance and prolong this day. Returning to the ground, we still pitch a little while the images of a magnificent place still turn in our heads.
