Some sheep pass through several intermediaries before their disposal on the market result, prices rise whenever an intermediary takes its margin.

Certainly the practice of informal traders have an important impact on soaring prices. Moreover, supply is less than demand, which explains the high price of sheep. Failing to control the informal market, the state has to import cattle from Eastern Europe to increase supply and cause general price decline.

The price increase is of course borne entirely by the consumer, who desperately prospecting the market and worries. He examines all the possibilities available to him to pay the price of sheep to celebrate Eid: possibility to enjoy a credit for the majority of public sector workers, bosses generosity to those in the private sector. Some have even borrow from relatives or friends. This festival is a major concern not only for the poor but for the majority of average families. Families already suffering from Ramadan, Eid el Fitr and the school year. To see them and hear them complain about the high price of sheep, we did not feel that they prepare a feast but undergo an ordeal. We almost feel sorry for them …

The question that arises is: why they do not change their habits to better adapt to their ways and their financial reality. Do not buy that famous sheep, especially since it is an optional rite of a religious viewpoint.

This is without counting the masochistic tendency of some of our fellow citizens: their consumerist spirit and irrationality may be more decisive in their choice of life that religious precepts they tend to adapt to their real priorities …
